The more they change, the more they stay the same, perhaps they are working on a "Trush shall set you free" concept for marketing, what isn't hidden can't be used against you. Firms like Ebates and Care2 are sitting their claiming they don't stuff , they don't redirect, perhaps Zango's new angle is going to be "Yea we're bad, but we're honest about it, unlike our peers..."

"New advertisers? The message I got was if you don’t like being popped on, then get yourself an advertiser account, outbid on targets for your site so you are popping on your own site and not your competitors. "

I agree that it's a good way to attract other scumbags and merchants who are too scared to sue or feel the pressure to the point that they see no way out. However, this is an illegal tactic in real life, could it apply to the internet?

This is the same as putting a Burger King kiosk in front of McDonalds and taking their customers away, and/or making sure they pocket the money even if they still buy McDonalds food. Or an employee (either McDonalds or Burger King, depending on the situation) who would pocket the money when customers pay rather than putting it all in the till. And then the "fat tony" would tell McDonalds if you want us to stop, you have to pay us to put your own people in Burger King restaurants and other places and the more money you pay us, the more people you'll have in place. If others outbid you, you lose your people who will be replaced with the highest bidder.

How long do you think that would last in real life?

People get shot every day for a lot less! I think zango should let their outside PR firm do the talking for them. They may have just shot themselves in the foot and out of business.

Legal advice anyone??

they've gotten so used to what they do, that it's becoming hard for them to disguise it in their minds and words because they don't see any wrong in it. whether you're a hooker, drug dealer or internet thief, everyday practices become routine and then are eventually talked about as such.

"For zango to come out and confirm this publicly, what’s their agenda?? What’s in it for them? It sure wasn’t said out of the goodness of their hearts!"

What happened to their PR spin of the last few years? Has it been overused to the point that people just became immune to it? The truth right from the horse's mouth?! Holy shit batman is right!

Of course they have no intention of stopping people from overwriting cookies. They would lose all their advertisers. What would be the purpose of using adware if they couldn't steal from others? Surfers would just close the popup and advertising money would be lost in cyberspace never to be recovered.

"Stealing" is what makes them and their advertisers profitable. The rest of us pay the price for their unethical behavior.

I wonder how much weight such public statements would hold in court...
